'The Solar Collector'

Although june 21st was the longest day of the year in Canada, it may have seemed even longer to residents of Cambridge, Ontario thanks to a new interactive light installation which began on the summer solstice. ‘Solar Collector’ is a project by Gorbet Design commissioned by the region of Waterloo. The sculpture consists of 12 illuminated metal shafts, all of which are solar powered, arranged in a graceful curve. Each night the project will come to life through a series of animated light shows, which are created over the web. The entire piece coordinates itself to interact with the sun’s positioning.
