After hurricane Katrina ravaged the city of New Orleans in 2005, plans to rebuild the city in a new more sustainable way were discussed. One of these new architectural approaches was created by Harvard design students Kiduck Kim and Christian Stayner. ‘Floating City’ plans to use possible floods to its advantage by making sure all the structures float. Beyond designing floating residences their design covers the entire urban structure. They believe the design will allow people to continue living in the southern city despite future flooding.
